About seven years ago when we used to do Halloween at, erm, in the evening, we used to run a little class for children who were too young to do the Halloween tour ‘cause it was quite scary. And one year my little granddaughter was there, she was five years old, and they were making paper bats. And there were a few children doing them and when they looked up the real bats were flying over their heads. And yeah, they were absolutely delighted because they thought their paper bats had come to life. It was actually in the Brewhouse at the time but there’s loads of bats in the Central Hall. All the bats that were in the Brewhouse have relocated and now hibernate in the Central Hall.

0:37.1 – 0:46.0 But, erm, you know, she was making little paper bats by drawing around her hands, colouring them in. And when she saw the real bats, she thought that’s what happened to them, they flew off.
0:46.0 – 0:52.0 And she’s, like I said, she’s thirteen now and she still remembers that day. She’ll never forget it. She’ll remember it all her life.
